You’d think ‘Parenthood’ sounds like something your mom would watch at 9pm on Zee Cafe. And you’d be absolutely right!
I thought I’d watch it as a series that I wouldn’t get addicted to. But life happens. Literally.
Honestly the first few episodes were scattered and I couldn’t understand who was who.
Parenthood is about, well, um Parenthood! At the core of the huge Braverman family we have Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia), their 4 kids, their kids’ kids and their soon to come kids’ kids’ kids! This was turning out to be more complicated than Interstellar!
Parenthood is about love, life, growing up, hardships, getting through them together. But, most of all, it’s about family. And how at the end of the day, they’ll always have your back.
There are many side stories happening at the same time. It takes almost half a season to remember everyone’s names. For example, Adam and Kristina Braverman have a son Max with Asperger’s syndrome. Max is smart, honest to the point of being rude (He doesn’t know he’s being rude), and has an unhealthy obsession with bugs! He’s most often misunderstood because of his Asperger’s. Each family has their own trials and tribulations. And every now and then something may strike a chord and you get a little teary-eyed.
Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls plays Sarah Braverman; the prodigal daughter of the Braverman family. Oh there’s Ray Romano from ‘Everybody loves Raymond’ too. I won’t give away spoilers, but he plays this difficult role quite splendidly!
The series does get a little slow and I doubt most people would have the patience to get through this series. If you liked One Tree Hill, This is us, Gilmore girls, and Packed to the Rafters, you’ll probably like it. If you don’t, your mom definitely will!

Vanora, a reluctant Architect, wishes she could do everything; Work, doodle, write, sing, play the guitar, binge-watch 'The Office' on Amazon Prime and still make time to bake cookies. Instead, she just settles for 6 episodes a day.
